soap operas

the first time i remember watching a soap opera was when i was a little girl maybe 7 or 8, i was across the street at my grandma and aunts house we were watching one life to live and they were crying,  because one of there favorite characters was dying ,  thats when i learned that dying on tv was different than dying in real life, cause i saw the same character a month later in a different soap, with my grandma and aunt again. i luved my grandma, she gave the best hugs,  i probally have many of her mannerisms since i lived with her for the first 6yrs of my life sometimes i feel she 's still lookin out for me.  back to the soaps....

the next time i remember watching soaps was the summer before high school, we would meet up at a friends house and watch all my children, and yes susan lucci was on way back then, we would then walk  to whatever acticity we had planned, shopping, beach, ballgame.  through my high school years i couldn't watch everyday but managed to always know what was happening for you can watch once a week and be all caught up. during my college years and working years i lost touch with my beloved soaps.

my early motherhood days were jobless and i could watch my soaps daily my children were raised on soap operas, i watched from 1100 to 1500 daily. the most watched soap opera episode ever watched Luke and Laura's wedding,  i missed because i was in labor with Amy,  no VCR back then.  as i returned to work i would watch less and less but will always be involved in one soap and with the invention of VCR/DVR/U VERSE i can tape and watch when i want.

one life to live is my current favorite soap opera we all try to take lunch at 1300 to watch, there was a scare about a year ago they were taking it off air, a cardiologist walked in our break room last week and started dishing it like what lousy actors they were and how could i watch that. i don't think its any worse then being glued to the TV watching sports, or car chases, or violence.

soaps are a harmless escape from the daily grind of life,  i see myself just like my gramma watching way into my eighties

blizzard

i remember the big snow in 1967,  i remember popsie climbing out of the upstairs window to shovel the roof, we made the best forts that year.  the record  snowfall of 1979 the year i was married, i have found memories of  that time to, we didn't have a car, so we walk or public transportation everywhere, there was so much snow that year it was like walking in a tunnel the snow was piled so high  i remember your dad and i playing and pushing each other in it.  mayor bilandic lost the election that year because he couldn't keep the streets cleaned. as a school age child there seemed to be more snow then now or maybe i had to walk in it more so it seems like more, and i always had handmedown boots and i have small feet so they were always to big, going to school i would loose them sometimes.

this current storm sounds very loud and the house is shaking , in the am well see if it owns up to all the hype
